The Cambridge Ski and Snowboard Club is one of the oldest snowsports clubs in the world. Originating at the Varsity Race in 1922, the oldest ski competition in the world, the club is primarily a ski racing club, with its status as a Discretionary Full Blue Sport. However, we also offer freestyle for both skiers and snowboarders.

Varsity Trip is the official annual ski trip organised by and for students of Oxford and Cambridge universities. The first event was held in WengenSwitzerland in 1922, with British students racing against each other and the local Wengen Ski Club. The event attracted 3,200 participants in 2011, and is the largest student snow sports event in the world. Until 2006, the trip was organized by both CUSSC and OUSSC, but due to the constant increase in size, a separate committee entirely devoted to organizing Varsity Trip was created. The clubs have maintained some involvement in the organization of races, but having a separate committee, has allowed for some awesome expansions in accommodation quality, social events, concerts and maintain the base price relatively cheap.

The races are structured as follows: two runs of GS and two runs of SL, with both individual and team rankings. The team ranking is based on the fastest four times of each team. Each University has both three men and women’s teams.
